ERP Project: Analysis, Evaluation, Realisation

INDUSTRY

Construction

CLIENT

Swiss construction and general contracting group with several operating companies

ROLE

Consulting and concept ownership (analysis phase), deputy – at times full – external project management (realisation), sparring partner to the executive board

SITUATION & CHALLENGE

A construction group with several operating companies faced the renewal of its ERP landscape. Grown over many years, numerous isolated solutions ran in parallel – a coherent view of business operations was impossible, and the pressure to act was correspondingly high. Clarity came first: where does the group stand, what does it really need, and which path carries the investment decision?

APPROACH

In the analysis phase we captured the current state together with the client, across every company and department – more than sixty interviews on processes, tools and organisation. From the validated needs grew a comparison between rebuilding and reworking the ERP solution, assessed in a utility value analysis and condensed into a decision basis for the board of directors. In realisation we took on deputy – at times full – project management through to go-live, under mandate from an interim services firm.

OUTCOME & CLIENT VALUE

The heterogeneous system landscape was replaced by a group-wide ERP solution with an integrated construction module – on schedule to the cut-off date, within budget and despite numerous changes. Invoices, payments and salaries ran through from day one, and the number of applications fell. Analysis, decision basis and project steering came from us, the decisions stayed with group management and the board of directors.
